Sample Edit
Free. Zero. Nada. Zilch. There is no charge for a sample edit.

Deciding to work with an editor on your favorite project can be a bit unnerving. Will the editor be kind? Will the editor catch things I didn’t? Will the editor catch things my writing group didn’t? Ease your concerns by requesting a sample edit. Send me 2000 words (as a Microsoft Word attachment) and I’ll edit it. Review my suggestions and line edits and decide if I’m someone you want to work with, with no committment or risk to you.

Manuscript Critique (Step 1)
For manuscripts between 70,000 – 80,000 words, a manuscript critique is $500. E-mail me for a proposal for much longer or shorter works.

Line Editing (Step 2)
I charge $40 an hour for line editing.

If you provide me a sample of your writing (up to 2000 words) and your total word count, I can give you a free sample edit and an estimate of the total time and cost required for your project.

If I have already provided you a Manuscript Critique, I will give you a 10% discount on line editing charges for a new draft of the same work.

Copyediting (Step 3)
I charge $40 an hour for copyediting.

If you provide me a sample of your writing (up to 2000 words) and your total word count, I can give you a free sample edit and an estimate of the total time and cost required for your project.

Testimonial

After I got over the first few traumatic bouts of it [your editing], I realized you are quite good at it. I wouldn't call your editing mean, but the aggressive honesty does feel akin to being hit over the head with a mace in a very constructive manner. I will not lie, it leaves you dazed for a bit. --Monica White

Just wanted to personally thank you for putting up with me so positively. You look for the good and with my very fragile self-esteem it is very much appreciated! --Rebecca Bryan
