Blog Editing Services
You have a blog, but your last post date was... entirely too long ago. Are you struggling to post because you don't know what to write about? Or because you worry your writing isn't perfect?
Either way, I can help. If you don't know what to write about, or don't know what to write about TODAY, we can work together to create an editorial calendar, which lists specific topics to write about for each day you plan to post.
If you procrastinate on publishing your information because you think your writing isn't perfect, I can edit posts for you each week, which you can then publish when you're ready.
And, if you don't post because you simply have too much going on to remember to create content, my editing services come with accountability built in: you must send me words by an agreed-upon date to get your edits returned to you.
I love reading.
I love communicating.
I love helping writers.
If you're looking for an editing service that I haven't listed (query letters, synopses, school papers, coaching, etc), contact me and let me know what you need.
What do I write about?
Editorial calendar creation
Posting consistently to your blog is a necessary challenge. Knowing what to write about... doesn't have to be. I work with you to create an editorial calendar to answer the perennial question, "What do I write about?" An editorial calendar is an actual calendar page that includes which article you plan to post when. It can be used to:
- Plan your posts to ensure variety and timeliness (due to seasonal changes, for example)
- Keep a log of what you've previously posted
- Track next steps for each post
To create an editorial calendar, we first brainstorm major categories (or themes) for your blog, and topic ideas and article titles for each category. Brainstorming may sound complex, but it's essentially an interview: I ask you lots (and lots!) of questions about your business, and then I collate your answers into category and topic ideas.
Next, we work together to assign a category to each day of the week you intend to post.
After we've assigned a category to each day of the week, we assign topic ideas or topic titles that match the category to specific days on the calendar. In other words, we create an editorial calendar you can use for the month, and as an example for future months.
Finally, I work with you to add blogging time to your schedule, to ensure you write what you plan!
Monthly topic brainstorming
We can meet (in person or virtually) to brainstorm additional topic and article title ideas. This service is especially useful if you struggle with ideas, or if your business experiences changes due to the changing seasons or life transitions.
Is my post good enough to publish?
Blog post editing
Lots of us have a zillion ideas about what we want to write about: we're passionate about our service or product, and we know a LOT about it. We can draft out a post while driving in the car or taking a shower. But... when it comes time to actually publish our writing, FEAR steps in. Is our writing good enough? Is our topic interesting? Well-organized? Are there any misspellings that make us look stupid?
Having an extra set of eyes answering those questions and validating our work can be a blog-saver.
My blog editing service includes:
- Monthly check-up conversations
- Weekly email or text reminders to submit your posts to me for editing
- Edited posts returned to you within 2 business days
The cost for blog post editing is dependent on the length of time you agree to work with me, and the number of posts you'd like edited each week. I define one blog post as 800 words (including title and subheads).
My blog post editing service also includes accountability: when you sign up for the service, you agree to provide me posts to edit on a certain day. If you don't honor your commitment, I may have to reschedule when I can edit your content.
Try me. Free.
To try out my editing services, I offer:
- a 15-minute conversation by phone or Skype to learn about your business and current website/blog
- free post edit, up to 800 words
- a 15-minute follow-up conversation to answer any questions
If you decide to work with me, we'll work together to decide on the length of engagement, number of posts per week, due day each week for posts, return day for posts, and method of payment (monthly, or in-full for a discount).
